Apple Shirts

This is a project that I am helping the Kindergartener Room Parent's with at my daughter's school. They wanted to make shirts for each kid for field trip days. The teacher's name is also going on the back of the shirt for easy identification. I've cut lots of vinyl but never the heat setting vinyl. They bought the vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and I cut it on a 12x24 mat. I used Cricut Doodlecharms for the apple and the font is Cricut Plantin Schoolbook. It cuts very easy, just follow the directions that Expressions Vinyl give you for your machine. They have a video that I suggest watching before you get started. For a Cricut, you have to set the pressure to 3, the blade depth to 2 and the speed to 2. Any more and you will cut through the transfer tape. This vinyl ironed on very easy for me. I can see this being a great project for other activities including birthday parties and my daughter's Girl Scout troop.

Cheerleading Megaphone

This is a megaphone that I added vinyl to for Olivia's cheerleading squad to use in their competition last year. I forgot to take a picture before giving it to her coach. When I saw it recently at a fundraiser, I snapped a picture.

Doll Bed Redo

I found this little doll bed at a second hand store a few months ago. It ended up in the "give away" pile when I realized it was too short for Olivia's American Girl Dolls. Olivia saw it, however, and begged me to give it a second chance. She wanted to make it her "Build-A-Bear" bed. The bed disassembled with only a few screws and it got a few coats of primer and then white spray paint. Olivia picked out the Hello Kitty fabric and my mediocre sewing skills were able to make a bed sheet, comforter, pillow and throw pillow pretty fast. Sewing things into a square, can't get any easier than that. I also ripped off the old fabric and covered up the bottom with the same Hello Kitty fabric.

American Girl Doll Cabinet

I saw this project on Pinterest as a dress-up cabinet and had to copy the idea. I bought the dresser for $20 at a thrift store. My husband removed the top three drawers and cut off the wood molding that held the drawers in. He also had to add some small wood pieces using wood glue and a piece of plywood to the bottom. The dresser had some water damage on the bottom so we bought, cut and attached some crown molding to cover it up. He also added a dowel at the top to hang the doll hangers on. You may want to add a bigger dowel if you are making this a dress-up cabinet. After primer, two coats of white paint and new drawer pulls it was done.

Sponge Bob Birthday Party

My son had been watching Sponge Bob exclusively for months so I figured a Sponge Bob party would be a good choice for his 3rd birthday party. There is a ton of Sponge Bob party stuff out there but sometimes I just can't find the right thing. I ended up using some pre-made stuff and making some using a Cricut Sponge Bob cartridge.

First, I made an invitation using the Sponge Bob cartridge. I welded two images together using the Cricut software, DesignStudio. I made them small so they would fit into a normal-sized invitation envelope. The inside has the party information.

My brother-in-law cut these wooden Sponge Bob and Patrick out for me and then my sister-in-law and I painted them to use as a photo op. We used the open space in their mouth for a bean bag toss game.

They also were a great addition to the outside decor.

Inside, I hung crepe paper and added some die cuts. We kept the food simple with pizza and appetizers.

Cake and Party Favor Table. I made each of our little party guests a drawstring backpack. Inside I had SpongeBob books, coloring books, fruit snacks and other Sponge Bob related things.

The topper cake was from Stater Bros.

For entertainment, we had a clown, who made balloon animals (actually mostly swords) and painted faces.
